Jaibazul is home to several species of native birds, some in danger of extinction such as the northern screamer (Chauna chavaria) and the yellow-throated toucan (Ramphastos ambiguus). It also serves as home to several species of migratory birds during the boreal winter and as a resting area for fishing birds. So far I have sighted 110 species of birds at Jaibazul.

The birds have not suffered persecution in the area but their population has been declining due to the loss of the ecosystem that supports them.
